1) CMA Fest, 8-11 p.m., ABC. Country’s top stars perform in Nashville. There are long-familiar names — Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Lainey Wilson, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw. And there are relatively fresh forces, including Riley Green (who co-hosts), Ella Langley (shown here), Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Molly Tuttle and Shaboozey.
2) “The Bear” season-opener, 9 and 9:30 p.m., FX. As a rainstorm pounds Chicago, the restaurant’s building and budget wobble. It’s a high-octane start to a show that’s had best-comedy Emmy nominations every year (and isn’t a comedy). And if you’re in a hurry? The entire season arrives today on FX.
3) “Surviving Earth,” 8 p.m., NBC. Last week’s episode saw dinosaurs emerge. Now, alas, we jump ahead to the giant asteroid that led to their demise … but not instantly: A mated dino pair struggles to survive. That’s followed by a rerun of a terrific “Americas” hour, visiting the Andes.
4) World Cup, 10 p.m. ET, Fox. The U.S., with a 2-0 record so far, faces Turkiye, which is 0-2 and already eliminated from subsequent rounds. That’s on a day when both Fox and Fox Sports1 have games at 4, 7 and 10 p.m.; they’re also on Telemundo and stream on Peacock and Fox One.
5) “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” 8 p.m., CBS. There are some hilarious moments as the family — in full turmoil — attempts a Christmas vacation. That’s followed by reruns of “Ghosts” (on the one day she can be seen, Hetty is a waitress), “Matlock” (Matty reflects on her daughter’s life) and “Elsbeth” (widowhood as a career choice).
