Best-bets for July 13: One show debuts, three return

1) “Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro” debut, 8 p.m. ABC. This opener seems like an audience-grabber. 2) “The 1% Club” return, 8 p.m., Fox. After a four-week break, broadcast-TV’s best game show is back. It has clever questions, 100 interesting contestants (tonight, they’re all singles) and a terrific host, Joel McHale.

3) “The Quiz With Balls” return, 9 p.m., Fox. The Washington Generals have a chance to break a 55-year losing streak. Really. Traveling as the opponents of the Harlem Globetrotters, they haven’t won since 1971. But now players from those teams are pitted in a contest that could go either way.

4) “All-American” season-opener, 8-10 p.m., CW. This began as the story of a high school football star, going from hard-scrabble Crenshaw to privileged Beverly Hills. Now, eight years later, the final 13 episodes, focus on the coach and quarterback at both schools. Alas, the characters are distant (from each other and viewers) and the story stretches believability.

5) “Independent Lens: The Flood,” 10 p.m., PBS. Katy Scoggin, a successful cinematographer, tries a tough subject — her rocky relationship with her dad. He believes Noah’s flood was real, evolution and climate change aren’t. If this were fiction, he might be stern and grim; in this quietly involving (if overlong) film, we meet a gently engaging guy.
