1) “Chasing the Moon” opener, 9-11 p.m., PBS. On Tuesdays, PBS has a terrific new documentary tracing the later years of the U.S.-Soviet space race. But now we go back to the beginning: This terrific, three-week film (from 2019) includes astronauts (Buzz Aldrin, Mike Collins, Frank Borman) and others, includinng Poppy Northcutt (shown here), a pioneering computer expert whom photographers kept focusing on.
2) “72 Hours,” Netflix. Kevin Hart finds himself in a bachelor party with younger and wilder souls. That comedy wraps up a busy streaming week that added Peacock’s “Wicked: For Good” and HBO Max’s “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” while bringing new seasons of Netflix’s “Ransom Canyon” and Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.”
3) “Sheriff Country,” 9 p.m., CBS. Nudged back an hour (due to a new “Big Brother: Unlocked” at 8), this starts with a body discovered riverside. The probe soon shakes the town. That rerun is followed by one from “Boston Blue,” with Danny and Lena trying to stop a crime spree from escalating.
4) Movies. This is a night of classics, including the first two “Lord of the Rings” films (5 and 9 p.m., TNT), “Jaws” (6 p.m., AMC), “Boyz N the Hood” (7:30, Bravo), “Forrest Gump” (8 and 11 p.m., Bravo), “Sunset Boulevard” (8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies) and top cartoons — “Beauty and the Beast” (7 p.m., Freeform) and “Coco” (8 p.m., Disney Channel).
5) ALSO: At 8 p.m., NBC reruns “America’s Got Talent” auditions. At 9, Fox reruns the fun second hour of “Nation’s Dumbest.” At 10, HGTV debuts “Roast My Rental”; Lesley Jones mocks a rental property, before a crew begins to redesign and remodel it.
