1) “Nation’s Dumbest,” 9 p.m., Fox. The rest of this season is a search for the second-dumbest. Carmen Electra (shown here) has already proved herself as the bottom of the class. She failed frequently, was late for one test, skipped another and last week was “expelled.” She said she was brave to try the show, “not knowing so much stuff.” Jon Heder, who knows lots of stuff, won the round.
2) “MasterChef,” 8 p.m., Fox. “Tag team” meals tend to be hectic and interesting: Whenever the bell rings, another chef swoops in to take over. It’s tough this time, because they aren’t working in their own specialties; instead, they try to re-create foods the judges savored in their pasts.
3) “Shards,” 9-11:04 p.m., FX. Amid the beauty, wealth and emptiness of these 1980s California teens, crises build. A serial killer is loose; in tonight’s first hour, a classmate is killed. In the second, there’s a party for new-kid Robert … whom Bret both distrusts and is fascinated by.
4) “Scrubs,” 9-11 p.m., ABC. Last week reran the first four episodes of the show’s return. Here are the next four, starting with J.D.’s first venture as a divorced guy who’s dating. He struggles to work with Dr. Park in the second episode, then nurtures his friendship with Carla in the third.
5) “Michael,” 9 p.m., Starz. Critics disliked the storytelling, but praised newcomer Jaafar Jackson (portraying his uncle, Michael Jackson) and, of course, the music itself. For audiences, that was enough: The box-office topped $1 billion globally, almost two-thirds of it overseas. Also today: a Marx Brothers marathon on Turner Classic Movies.
