1) “America’s Got Talent,” 8-10 p.m., NBC. The live shows finally begin, with 11 acts performing on the next four Tuesdays (with results Wednesday). Today has four music acts (Ashford Sanders, Brook Lynn, Luke Taleno, ComUNITY Choir), comedian Cris Sosa, two magic acts, two dance acts, a dog act and (shown here in an outdoor performance) the Jesse White Tumbling Team.
2) “Starring Dick Van Dyke,” 9-11 p.m., PBS. This joyful profile debuted Dec. 12 — the eve of Van Dyke’s 100th birthday. We see an early nightclub act, with his elastic face and body. His TV shows floundered, before the great “Dick Van Dyke Show.” Then came the “Mary Poppins” triumph and some serious roles, one reflecting his own struggle with alcoholism.
3) “The Sting,” 11 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Robert Redford, who died last September, would have turned 90 today. TCM has a marathon, from the prescient political tale “The Candidate” at 10 a.m., to the romantic “The Way We Were” and “Out of Africa” at 6 and 8, followed by this gem, an Oscar-winner for its script, its music, best picture and more.
4) More movies. At 6:37 p.m., HBO has “Ready Player One” (2018), Steven Spielberg’s terrific film about young virtual-reality adventurers. And at 8, MGM+ has “Chicago” (2002) — the only musical to win the best-picture Oscar since “Oliver” did it 58 years ago,.
5) “NCIS: Origins,” 9 and 10 p.m., CBS. After being bumped by an extra “Survivor” rerun last week, this gets two reruns tonight: A Marine may have a fatal virus; then a body may be linked to a smuggling operation. Those follow an “NCIS” rerun at 8, with a murder on a museum ship.
