1) “Sheriff Country” and “Boston Blue,” 9 and 10 p.m., CBS. After being bumped by football last week, both are back with reruns. First, the sheriff (shown here in a previous episode) is wedged between the DEA and loyalty to her people. Then the Silvers mark the anniversary of their patriarch’s death, but also tackle cases, including the murder of a beloved shop owner.
2) “Made in the West,” 9 p.m., PBS. For two centuries, the rest of us have been fascinated by the American West. This starts with a vivid look at “Buffalo” Bill Cody, who molded live epics. Then it stumbles, visiting modern craftspeople. Their work — usable art, from boots to tables — is great; their comments soon become bland and repetitious.
3) Football, 9 p.m. ET, Fox. This is supposed to be the first weekend of the college season, but Southern California (ranked No. 14 pre-season) already has a win. Last week it beat San Jose State, 42-26; now it faces Fresno State. Also on national TV: Toledo-Michigan State, 8 p.m., Fox Sports1; Miami (ranked No. 7)-Stanford, 9 p.m., ESPN.
4) “Charles Grodin: “Rebel With a Cause” (2025), 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Grodin, who died in 2021 at 86, did it all. He wrote (at least eight books and three plays), did commentaries on “60 Minutes” and beyond, hosted talk shows and guested on others. Still, he was known for his movies: TCM has four, starting with the clever “Midnight Run” at 10.
5) MORE: From 8-10 p.m., NBC reruns Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent” performances. At 9 (also 9:43 and 11:25), HBO has Conan O’Brien visiting Morocco. And on Apple, Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are on the run in “Mayday.”
