1) “Hell’s Kitchen” season-opener, 8 p.m., Fox. In the sweet-spirited “MasterChef,” home chefs cooked for a tranquil Gordon Ramsay. Now, alas, we’re back to the pros, albeit young ones, whom he can shout at. As the 25th season starts (shown here), they make their signature dishes.
2) “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” opener. In the Malaysian jungle are 15 sorta-celebrities. Some are athletes — football, basketball, boxing, skating — but others include actors (Candace Cameron Bure, Oliver Hudson), disgraced politician George Santos and father-daughter real-estate people Mauricio and Alexia Umansky.
3) “Big Brother,” 8 p.m., CBS. We’re a week from the finale. That’s followed by “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” (Georgie fumes when his mom seems to like Fagenbacker) and “Ghosts” (Trevor had finally learned he has a daughter). At 10, “Elsbeth” probes crossword-puzzle murder; Steve Buscemi, Mo Rocca and Samantha Mathis are guest stars
4) “A Different World,” Netflix. This “Cosby” spin-off viewed students at a historically Black college. Now two of them (Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy) return, with the focus on their daughter (Tony-winner Maleah Joi Moon). Story flaws are mostly redeemed by an ambitious production, spiced by music, dance and more.
5) “American Horror Story,” 9-11 p.m., FX and Hulu. The 13th season has 13 episodes (naturally), spread over six Thursdays and wrapping just in time for Halloween. In tonight’s first episode, Ben (Joey Pollari) has a secluded hospice job; in the second, at 9:43, he learns about creepy duties. In the third, Constance (Jessica Lange) has special party guests.
