Best-bets for Jan. 24: Stars on skates, stars in Stetsons

1) Figure skating, 8-11 p.m., NBC. Here are the women’s finals, choosing a 2020 champion. (Show here is Alysa Liu, who was last year’s winner at 13.) 1) Figure skating, 8-11 p.m., NBC. 2) “Country Music,” 9-11 p.m. PBS. Two immense talents linked (indirectly) one night in a Nashville bar. Charlie Dick heard a new song by a young Texan, Willie Nelson. He insisted on driving Nelson and the tape to his house and waking up his wife, Patsy Cline. Her rendition of Nelson’s “Crazy,” would be an all-time classic. Such stories fill this segment, the fourth of eight parts in Ken Burns’ masterful documentary. Tonight views Cline, Nashville’s rise as Music City and Memphis’ “rockabilly” sound , with Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and more.

3) “Fresh Off the Boat,” 8 p.m., ABC. Only four episodes remain, as this show wraps up its six-season run. Tonight, Eddie has his own scheming reasons for convincing his brother to train with a spelling-bee champion. Naturally, things soon go wrong.

4) “Blue Bloods,” 10 p.m., CBS. Shows are at their best at the start and end of a season. So here – wrapping up the second straight Friday of CBS reruns – is the episode that opened the 10th season: Frank (Tom Selleck), the police commissioner, tries to help a former police partner whose daughter was arrested. Meanwhile, Frank’s sons have missions: Danny and his partner are probing a year-old murder case; Jamie and Eddie (his wife and former police partner) are looking for a new apartment.

5) “Shrill,” any time, Hulu. Aidy Bryant has it both ways – continuing on “Saturday Night Live” while also making this short-run series during her summer breaks. (It’s an approach that Kate McKinnon will also be doing with Hulu.) Here’s the second season, with Annie (Bryant) trying to remake a life that’s seen her get little respect at work or in romance.
