1) World Series, 8 p.m. ET, Fox. After two games in Milwaukee — the first World Series games there in 44 years — the best-of-seven series moves south. The Tampa Bay Rays (shown here) host through Wednesday (if needed). If more are needed, it’s back to Milwaukee on Friday and (Halloween night) Saturday. Eventually, the Brewers or Rays will win their first Series title.
2) Sports burst. Even the World Series has to compete with other sports. At 8 p.m., it’s the fifth game of the best-of-seven WNBA finals; Golden State hosts Atlanta, on USA, CNBC and Peacock. And at 8:15, it’s football, with the Cowboys and Eagles (both 2-4 this season) on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2.
3) “Patti Jinich Explores Panamericana” season-opener, 9 p.m. today, PBS. Jinich’s journey down the Pan American Highway reaches Montana and Wyoming. She finds intriguing projects — preserving a language, restoring the buffalo, transplanting Basque traditions to Missoula. She also finds good food and great vibes; she always seems to.
4) “Line of Fire” 10 p.m., NBC. For this married (but estranged) couple, it’s a doubly busy day at work. Jane (Hope Davis) is in a hijacked plane; Mike (Peter Krause) is closing in on a decade-old assassination scheme. There are moments that strain believability, but it’s still exciting … despite Mike’s stoic persona. At one point his son detects “almost like an emotion.”
5) ALSO: At 8 p.m., NBC continues the “Voice” battle rounds and CW’s “Private Eyes West Coast” probes murder among free-divers. At 9, CW’s “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” probes a series of “accidental” deaths. And at 10, PBS’ “Seeds” visits Blacks with longtime farms in the South.
