2) “Dancing With the Stars,” 8-10 p.m., ABC and Disney+. We rarely link ballroom dancing and horror, but here it is: Four nights before Halloween, the routines will refer to horror films. That’s followed by “R.J. Decker,” with R,J. seeing if someone was wrongly convicted of killing a police officer.

3) Sports, 8 p.m. ET. Last season’s basketball champions, the New York Knicks, host the Detroit Pistons on NBC. And this year’s baseball champs? That will be the Milwaukee Brewers or Tampa Bay Rays; the fourth game of their best-of-seven World Series is on Fox. Also, there’s hockey (Bruins and Hurricanes) on ESPN.

4) “In Pursuit: Lessons in American Leadership,” 10 p.m., PBS. At first, this spends way too much time on bland generalisms. Eventually, however, it has fascinating glimpses of presidents and first ladies. There are key comments from three presidents, three first ladies, seven Pulitzer Prize-winning historians and Chief Justice John Roberts.

5) ALSO: Movies include Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning “The Departed” (2006), at 6:25 p.m. on HBO, and “Michael” (2026), at 7:20 on Starz. And at 10, CBS’ “NCIS: Origins” has another flashforward, with Mark Harmon as Gibbs. Returning to a place full of memories, he finds he’s not alone.
