Best-bets for Oct. 7: Steve Martin Short and a baking champion

1) “Great Chocolate Showdown” finale, 8 p.m., CW. This amiable Canadian show has become more American since adding the CW mini-network. This year, seven of the 10 contestants were from the U.S., including the final four. Last week, Tim Eford, an Atlanta cop, was eliminated. That leaves Mike Casner, 38, a Chicago doctor; Ashlee, 33, a Baltimore medical assistant; and Kristen Washington (shown here in a previous episode), 23, who drives food delivery in Jackson, Miss. 2) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. Let’s call this Steve Martin and Martin Short Week. On Tuesday, the third season of their terrific “Only Murders in the Building” concluded on Hulu, with twists, laughs, songs (the plot involved a Broadway musical) and a shooting that sets up the fourth season. Now here’s a third run of the “SNL” that Martin and Short co-hosted. Selena Gomez (an “Only Murders” star) appears and Brandi Carlile is the music guest.

3) Baseball. The second round of the play-offs begins, with two doubleheaders. Fox Sports1 has games at 4 and 9 p.m. ET (in Baltimore and Houston, respectively); TBS has ones at 4:30 and 8:30 (in Atlanta and Los Angeles). They collide with a full day of college football, including primetime games at 7:30 (ABC and NBC) and 8 p.m. ET (Fox);

4) “Swinging Into Romance,” 8-10 p.m., Great American Family. For the second straight Saturday, GAF makes autumn a TV event. A small town has colored leaves everywhere, including indoors. That’s the backdrop for a predictable tale about a swing-dance concert. We’re not sure why a contest with a tiny audience would have big prize money, but Danica McKellar and David Haydn-Jones are likable stars, with Gleb Savchenko as a swirling semi-villain.

5) “Loteria Loca,” 8 p.m., CBS. If you missed this debut Monday, here’s a second chance. Jaime Camil produces and hosts a show based on a bingo-like game that’s popular in Mexico. That’s followed at 9 by a “NCIS: Hawaii” rerun: Working undercover, Special Agent Pike (Mark Gessner) is ambushed.
