Best-bets for June 8: a Wiiggy, hockey night

2) Hockey, 8 p.m. ET, ABC. Canadian teams used to dominate the Stanley Cup playoffs. Montreal won 24 times, Toronto 13, no one else more than 11. But the last win was 31 years ago; since then, five different Canadian teams have lost in the finals. Now Edmonton starts the best-of-seven series (in Florida). It had four wins with Wayne Gretzky, once without him, but none since 1990.

3) “The Equalizer,” 8 p.m., CBS. In a variation on the 1949 classic “D.O.A.,” a former Chinese agent has been poisoned; now Robyn must find the villains and the antidote. It’s a good story, alongside a so-so one about Dee joining a protest.

4) Disney movies, cable. It’s a busy day for animated movies,. The Disney Channel has “Monsters University” (2013) at 8 p.m ; Freeform has lots more, including “WALL-E” (2008) at 4:10 p.m., “Ratatouille” (2007) at 6:20 and the impressive “Raya and the Last Dragon” (2021) at 9.

5) Comedies. Two movie series rerun today. Syfy has the delightful “Ghostbusters” (1984) and its sequel (1989) at 7 and 9:30 p.m. The Paramount Network has “Hangover” films (2009, 2011, 2013) at noon, 2:05 and 4:30, rerunning at 6:55, 9:25 and 11:55. Also, four “The Conners” episodes from 2021 rerun from 8-10 p.m. on CW.
