1) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. At 26, Sabrina Carpenter (shown here) takes on a challenge most people avoid — doubling up as “SNL” host and music guest. Last season, only three people — Charlie XCX, Timothee Chalamet and Lady Gaga — did both; even Ariana Grande had someone else do the music… as did Bad Bunny this season.
2) “Tracker,” 9 p.m., CBS. On the eve of the season-opener, here’s a rerun from last February. Searching for a singer, Colter confronts a stoic survivor whose background isn’t that different from his own.
3) Baseball, 8:08 p.m. ET, TBS, TruTV and Max, with pre-game at 7. It’s the fifth game (if needed) of the best-of-seven series, with the Brewers at the Dodgers. The series-winner goes on to the World Series against the Mariners or Bluejays, who have their sixth game (if needed) on Sunday.
4) Football, ABC. Here are three straight strong match-ups — Louisiana State (ranked No. 12) and Vanderbilt (No. 17) at noon ET; Mississippi (No. 5) and Georgia (No. 9), 3:30; Tennessee (No. 11) and Alabama (No. 6), 7:30. Also tonight: Southern California (No. 20) and Notre Dame (No. 13), 7:30, NBC; Utah (No. 23) and Brigham Young (No. 15), 8, Fox.
5) ALSO: Ar 8 p.m., CBS has an “FBI” rerun from Marh, with two agents weaponless on a highjacked train. And AMC has a Stephen King marathon, including two exceptional films. At 8 is John Carpenter’s “Christine” (1983); at 10 is Rob Reiner’s “Misery” (1990), with Kathy Bates’ Oscar-winning role.
