1) New Christmas movies, 8 p.m. Hallmark and 8 p.m. ET, Great American Family. Yes, Christmas films … six days before Halloween. Both channels rerun previous ones all ay, then have a new one. For “GAF,” it’s “A Royal Icing Christmas.” For Hallmark, “Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper” has a weatherman (Robert Buckley, shown here) return home, where (surprise?) he sees his former teen crush.
2) World Series, 8 p.m. ET, Fox, with pre-game at 7. It’s the second game with the Toronto Blue Jays hosting the Dodgers. After this one, there’s a day off before the best-of-seven series resumes in Los Angeles.
3) More sports. NBC has figure-skating at 3 p.m. ET, CW has NASCAR at 7:30 and lots of places have football. That’s topped by ABC, with Mississippi (ranked No. 8) and Oklahoma (No. 13) at noon and Texas A&M (No. 3) and Louisiana State (No. 21) at 7:30. In between, ESPN has Missouri (No. 15) and Vanderbilt (No. 10) at 3:30 p.m.
4) Halloween-movie classics. Three of the best air tonight. “Scream” (1996) is at 8 p.m. on Showtime, with its sequel at 10. “Beetlejuice” (1978) is at 8 and 10 p.m. on TBS. And the original “Halloween” (1978), superbly directed by John Carpenter on a tidy budget, is 9:30 on AMC, with its sequel at 11:30.
5) Movie series. For sheer fun, catch the first and third “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, at 6 and 8:30 p.m. on FX … or “Ocean’s Twelve” and Ocean’s Thirteen,” at 6 and 8:30 p.m. on the USA Network, rerunning at 11 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. And for action, Tom Cruise’s first three “Mission: Impossible” films are at 6:10, 8 and 10:05 p.m. on MGM+.
