1) World Cup, 3 and 9 p.m. ET, Fox. Here are the Cup openers for two teams with home-field advantage. First, Canada faces Bosnia and Herzegovina, at 3 p.m. in Toronto; then the U.S. faces Paraguay, at 9 in Los Angeles. (Mexico had its opener Thursday, in Mexico City.) 2) “Dutton Ranch,” Paramount+. “There’s been a lot of changes here lately,” Beth says. You think? In five weeks, we’ve seen one ranch destroyed by fire, another shattered by disease. We’ve seen young love, elder-lust and two murders. Now Rip steers cattle, Beth steers business and a deadly threat looms. Tautly written and played, a strong drama continues.
3) “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” season-opener, 8:01 p.m., Starz, rerunning at 9:47 and 11:30. Last season’s finale (rerunning at 7:04) found Kanan in despair and his mom preparing for a new drug war. Now the fifth and final season starts with Breeze preparing his new drug enterprise. A sci-fi series, “The Listeners,” follows at 9:04 and 10:42.
4) “Sheriff Country,” 8 p.m., CBS. It’s a rough night for all the CBS reruns. Here, a brutal attack is linked to a land-grab scheme, Then “Fire Country” has a dangerous blaze at a popular smokehouse. And “Boston Blue” finds people linking when a threat strikes close to home.
5) “Knives Out” (2019), 8 p.m., AMC. This brilliant movie manages to mix mystery, action and humor into one entertaining swirl. It’s followed at 11 by the opener to “You’re Killing Me,” a pleasant-enough Brooke Shields mystery series that streams at www.acorn.tv.
