1) College football. For most schools, the season is still a week away. A few start early, however, including two neutral-site games. At noon ET, ESPN has North Carolina and Texas Christian in Ireland. And at 7:30 p.m., ABC has the annual opener for historically Black schools; this time, it’s Howard (shown here last season) and Alabama A&M, in Atlanta.
2) More football. At 2 p.m. ET, Southern California (ranked No. 14 in pre-season polls) hosts San Jose State. The other nationally televised games: North Carolina State- Virginia, 3:30, ESPN; Jacksonville State-North Dakota State, 5:30, CBS Sports Network; New Mexico State-Florida State, 7 p.m., CW; Memphis-Nevada Las Vegas, 10, Fox.
3) “Big Brother,” 8-9:30 p.m., CBS. Here’s a quick rerun of Thursday’s episode — the 1,000th one in the show’s 28-season (so far) run. It’s followed by a rerun of “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” with people trying to comfort Mandy’s brother, after his girlfriend broke up with him.
4) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. For the second time in three weeks, “SNL” reruns an episode with one person doubling as host and music guest. This time, it’s Harry Styles; two weeks ago, it was Olivia Rodrigo. The only other person to double up this season was Sabrina Carpenter.
5) ALSO: NBC has NASCAR, at 7 p.m. ET. Top movies include “Black Panther” (2018) and its sequel, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., FX; “The Help” (2011), 6:30 and 9:30 p.m., E; “Stand By Me” (1986), 6:30 p.m., HBO; and “Jaws” (1975), 7 p.m., AMC.
