The dire prospect of a no-Charlie-Brown season has now eased slightly.

In a last-minute change, two classic cartoons will air at 7:30 p.m. (6:30 Central) on PBS Kids and on some PBS stations. Both are on Sundays:

– Nov. 22: “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.”

– Dec. 13: “A Charlie Brown Christmas” (shown here).

Ever since its debut in 1965, the Christmas special has been considered one of TV’s best moments. That led to dismay this year, when a deal sent all of the “Peanuts” shows to Apple TV+. The screening service has already added the Thanksgiving film and will insert the Christmas one on Dec. 4.

In addition, however, Apple is briefly putting both cartoons on its app and its online service. The Thanksgiving one will be Nov. 25-27, the Christmas one on Dec. 11-13. Now the PBS step offers people a chance to see these the old-fashioned way, on TV … albeit, without commercials.
