1) “Devils” season-opener, 9 p.m., CW. With sleek visuals, this European series makes financial schemes feel like tech thrill rides. In the first season, Massimo battled his ex-mentor (Patrick Dempsey; they’re shown here) and took control of a mega-bank. Now we jump between crises – Brexit in 2016, Covid in 2020 – that created financial chaos. There are murders, past and present, and careers wobble. It’s hard to follow some of the fiscal-babble, but easy to feel engaged.
2) “Leonardo” debut, 8 p.m., CW. Leonardo da Vinci’s life sprawled across a huge range. He was an inventor (from musical instruments to instruments of war ), a theorist, a lover and, we’re told, a really good artist. “Da Vinci’s Demons” had a three-season run; now this series starts with da Vinci (Aidan Turner of “Poldark”) on trial for murder, then flashes back. Freddie Highmore plays an investigator.
3) “Password,” 10 p.m., NBC. This twice-a-week game (also at 9 p.m. Wednesdays) adds fun to the end of summer. Tonight, some words are kind of easy – “roar” or “burp” or such; others – “cosmo?” “tummy?” — are elusive. Especially difficult is “manscape” … mostly because Meghan Trainor – playing against Jimmy Fallon – had never heard of it. It’s fun seeing her flail.
4) “Celebrity Familty Feud,” 9 p.m., BET, and 10 p.m., ABC. With Steve Harvey as the Emmy-winning host, reruns show up on two networks. The first hour has Kathie Lee Gifford facing Ricki Lake and 2 Chainz facing Big Boi. The second has Rhys Darby and Jay Pharoah, then two “Bachelor” groups – Bachelor Nation and Bachelor Squad.
5) ALSO: Leading into “Password,” NBC has a new “America’s Got Talent” from 8-10 p.m. Also, a Racquel Welch marathon on Turner Classic Movies includes (8-10 p.m. ET) “One Million Years, B.C.”); it’s no classic, but remembered for its notion that pre-historic woman wore well-fitted bikini tops. And at 10, FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows” has Nandor and Laszlo alone in a cabin.
