ABC found summer success by reviving old game shows, then started adding new ones, “The Chase” (adapted from a British hit) came in in 2021, with “Generation Gap” and “Claim to Fame” last summer.
All three are back, alongside a new show: “The Prank Panel” will have Johnny Knoxville, Eric Andre and Gabourey Sidibe helping regular folks pull off elaborate pranks.
“Prank” is sort of a reality show – as is “Claim to Fame”: Its housemates are related to famous folks, but don’t know who’s who. It’s hosted by Kevin Jonas and his non-famous brother, Franklin.
The schedule includes two shows for Steve Harvey — hosting “Celebrity Family Feud” and presiding over “Judge Steve Harvey.”. There’s also double duty for James Holzhauer: He’s on “The Chase,” along with Brad Rutter and several new chasers, and is one of the contestants on “Jeopardy,” alongside Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach, Andrew He and Sam Buttrey; Ken Jennings hosts.
Amid that blitz of non-scripted shows, there’s the scripted “The Wonder Years.” which revised the old series by focusing on a Black teen in Alabama in the late ‘60s. The first season won a Peabody Award and drew five Image Award nominations, but the second has been waiting on the shelf. The line-up”
