Best-bets for Jan. 24: cute critters, cute con artist

1) “Nature: Big Little Journeys” finale, 8 p.m., PBS. This three-week gem has followed small animals on big journeys. Now a chameleon in Madagascar and a water vole (shown here) in Scotland must each find a mate and a place for babies to be born. 1) “Nature: Big Little Journeys” finale, 8 p.m., PBS. This three-week gem has followed small animals on big journeys. Now a chameleon in Madagascar and a water vole (shown here) in Scotland must each find a mate and a place for babies to be born. Skillfully using technology and trickery (several animals merge into one story), this offers a dazzling look at tiny creatures in a big world.

2) “Wild Cards,” 8 p.m., CW. Last week’s opener set things up: A grumpy cop (Giacomo Giannotti) must work with a good-hearted con artit (the delightful Vanessa Morgan). Now they’re confined to a dreary porch-pirate case … which, of course, leads to a murder case It’s a good episode in a fun series.

3) “Family Law,” 9 p.m., CW. After last week’s sub-par season-opener, this is back to being a reasonably pleasant light drama. A scam marriage has left a decent chap shattered; now the floundering Cecil must pose as the next mark.

4) “Chicago Fire,” 9 p.m., NBC. After worrying about it for eight months, viewers have learned that “Mouch” survived his gunshot wounds in the season-finale. Now he tries to change his image and nickname, which sees him as half man and half couch. That’s new, alongside new hours of “Chicago Med” (Archer’s transplant surgery is endangered) at 8 and “Chicago P.D.” (Ruzek is caught in a poker raid) at 10.

5) “Let’s Make a Deal Primetime,” 9 p.m., CBS. On Dec. 30,. this turned 60. Now it celebrates with prizes that include $60,000 and possibly an Aston Martin. It includes memories of its first host (the late Monty Hall) and model (Carol Merrill, 83). Wayne Brady, the host for15 years, sings; he’s a “Masked Singer” winner who will have the title role this spring in Broadway’s “The Wiz.”
