1) “Next to Normal,” 9-11:30 p.m., PBS. A four-Friday Broadway series starts with a stunning musical — a roller-coaster through grief and a fractured mind. Some viewers will consider this too painful; more will find it deeply moving. In its original version (shown here), it won a Pulitzer Prize for drama and Tonys for its music. Now cameras can add the subtlety behind quaking emotions.
2) “Percy Jackson & The Olympians,” 7 and 7:50 p.m., Disney Channel. This terrific series debuted on Disney+ and now reruns here, two episodes per Friday. Until recently, Percy was a sorta-normal 12-year-old. Now he’s learned that monsters are real and he’s a demigod with powers. He chooses
Annabeth and Grover for a grand and dangerous quest.
3) “Hollywood Squares” season-finale, 8 p.m., CBS. This show just got back on the schedule last week, but now it’s wrapping up. Panelists include two of the “Neighborhood” stars, Tichina Arnold and Beth Behr. Next week their colleague, Cedric the Entertainer, has “Greatest @Home Videos.”
4) “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” 8 p.m., NBC. Last week, viewers finally saw more of the chaos that erupted during the gala. Now Alice and her gardening colleagues deal with the aftermath.
5) “SWAT,” 9 p.m., CBS. A week before the two-hour series-finale, Hondo’s cousin Andre is AWOL from Marines basic-training. When Hondo and Deacon try to retrieve him, they learn there’s a much bigger crisis. That’s followed at 10 by a “Fire Country” rerun, with a fresh opportunity for Bode.
