1) “Bachelor in Paradise” opener, 8-10 p.m., ABC. “Bachelorette” is gone for a year (undergoing a makeover), so “Paradise” gets the top summer spot. It has seven people from last year’s “Bachelorette,” three (Alexa Godin, Bailey Brown, Zoe McGrady) from the recent “Bachelor” and more, including “Golden Bachelor” and “Golden Bachelorette.” Jesse Palmer hosts, with Wes Adams (shown here) as bartender and Hannah Brown leading “Paradise Relations.”
2) “Survival Mode” debut, 10 p.m., NBC. Hurricane Ian lashed Florida in 2022, the state’s deadliest storm in 87 years. In Florida alone, it killed 149 and caused $110 billion damage. This focuses on people who tried to ride it out. It starts a series that will include a flood, a tornado, wildfires, a mudslide, a sinking ship and more.
3) “Jim Thorpe: Lit by Lightning,” 8 p.m., History; and “Igualada,” 10 p.m., PBS. Here are portraits of pioneers. Thorpe, the first Native American to win Olympic gold, was a baseball pro and football Hall-of-Famer. the best athlete of his era. “Igualada” focuses on Francia Marquez, a Black, rural Colombian who ran for president.
4) “Art Detectives” season-finale, www.acorn.tv. A mixed season ends with its best episode, as Palmer (Stephen Moyer) confronts the sins of his father, a forger. Alas, Acorn also opens the “Madame Blanc Mysteries” with two hours that have flimsy plots and culprits rushing to confess.
5) MORE: “SharkFest” continues all day on National Geographic,. with new hours at 9 and 10 p.m. Movies include the brilliant sci-fi film “Looper” (2012) at 7 on Showtime and the beautifully crafted “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962) at 8 ET on Turner Classic Movies.
