“All American” — the show that has survived CW purges — will have its eighth and final season this summer.
When new owners took over the network, they soon canceled most of its scripted shows, which were strong on fantasy and superheroes. The one survivor has been the non-fantasy “All American” (shown here in a recent season).
The show began with a football star from Crenshaw moving to a Beverly Hills high school. Some of the original characters graduated and some of the actors left, but many have stayed.
The final season — with all of the stories set during one pivotal week — will focus on a few of them — Jordan, Layla, Coop, Cassius, KJ, Khalil, Amina and Preach. It will have a one-hour special on June 22, then begin the last season with a two-hour episode July 13.
