1) “America’s Got Talent” season-opener, 8-10 p.m. Tuesday, NBC. The ratings leader is back, ready to spend most of the summer on auditions. The panel — Simon Cowell (shown here), Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel and Mel B — will see lots of acts, some of them weird and most of them talented. On Aug. 18, they’ll finally shift to live shows, with viewers voting,
2) “Password” season-opener, 10 p.m. Tuesday, NBC. Yes. NBC expects to dominate Tuesdays this summer. This clever game has Keke Palmer as its host and Jimmy Fallon as the producer and a player. In the opener, he faces Anthony Anderson. A day earlier, NBC has reruns of the “AGT” anniversary special and of a “Password” with Chance the Rapper.
3) Tony Awards, 8-11 p.m. ET Sunday, CBS. Each year, this offers a vibrant swirl of Broadway music. This year, that includes the four new-musical nominees (one based on Apple’s brilliant “Schmigadoon”), three revival nominees (“Ragtime,” “Rocky Horror” and “Cats”), the original cast of “Book of Mormon” ,,, and Pink, who hosts.
4) “Bring Me the Beauties” opener, 9 p.m. today, HBO. Hoyt Richards is a Princeton grad who was called the first male supermodel. He worked for elite brands (Versace, Lauren, Cartier, etc), made a fortune … and gave it to a cult. This three-parter starts on a busy documentary day: at 8 and 9, ABC reruns films on Richard Simmons and on Kennedy conspiracy theories.
5) Basketball, 8:30 p.mEPT Wednesday and Friday, ABC, with pre-game show at 8. The finals begin, with fans wondering if the Knicks are for real. A good team in the regular season (53-29 record, sixth best), they’ve been a great one in the play-offs. They’ve won 11 straight games, by an average margin of 24 points. After an eight-day lay-off, they’re back.
6) “The Americas” return, 8 and 9 p.m. Thursday, NBC. Next week, NBC starts filling Thursdays with big, British-American documentaries — the new “Surviving Earth” at 8 p.m. and reruns of the splendid “Americas” at 9. Filling those spots this week are “fun facts” variations of two hours: We visit Mexican warmth, then reach the frozen Arctic.
7) “Farmer Wants a Wife” (8 p.m. Tuesday, 8 and 9 Friday) and more. It’s a busy week for Fox’s unscripted shows. “Farmer” debuts its meet-the-family hour Tuesday and repeats it at 9 p.m. Friday, with the previous episode rerunning at 8. Fox has new hours of “1% Club” (8, today), “MasterChef” and “The Floor” (8 and 9 p.m. Wednesday) and more.
8) Band of Brothers,” Saturday, Sundance. On the anniversary of D-Day, Sundance reruns a brilliant mini-series about a real paratrooper unit. That’s 9 a.m. to 11:19 p.m., with the D-Day episode at 10:41 a.m. Also, History has “D-Day: The Unheard Tapes” from noon to 4 p.m. and reruns the first five hours (prior to D-Day) of “World War II,” from 7 to midnight.
9) “The Vampire Lestat” debut, 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC, rerunning at 10:44. “Interview With the Vampire” was a stunning series — gory and messy, but beautifully filmed and played. This is the same … except there’s no one to like — no Claudia, only brief bits of Louis and Molloy. It’s non-stop Lestat, now a rock star who’s compelling … yet hard to spend much time with.
10) MORE: On Friday, Paramount+ has a pivotal and well-crafted hour of “Dutton Ranch.” And hockey, like basketball, has a team on a hot streak: Vegas, 39-26 in the regular season, has won its last six games. The finals start at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday and/or Thursday (check Sports) on ABC. In football, the UFL semi-finals are Sunday — 3 on ABC, 6 on Fox.
