1) “America’s Got Talent” season-opener, 8-10 p.m., NBC. A Nigerian-born engineer dances without music; a Chinese engineer (shown here) dances without humans; Canadians dance with dogs. There’s much more, including a Cuban-born rapper, a French comedian and also some Americans who, like the others, have talent. It’s an impressive (and sometimes emotional) start.
2) “Password” season-opener, 10 p.m., NBC. This may be — except for “Family Feud” — TV’s best game show. It starts with a smart concept, then adds two likable regulars — host Keke Palmer and producer/contestant Jimmy Fallon. Tonight, he and Anthony Anderson are paired with non-celebrities.
3) “Winter’s Bone” (2010), 8 p.m., VH1. Here is indie-filmmaking at its best — a quietly compelling story of a backwoods teen, trying to save the house she shares with her siblings. It drew Oscar nominations for best picture, script, star (Jennifer Lawrence, then an unknown) and co-star (John Hawkes).
4) “Bear Grylls is Running Wild,” 9 p.m., Fox. Rhys Darby is a comedian and actor who’s big in his native New Zealand (he played the band manager in “Flight of the Conchords”) and in Grylls’ native England. Tonight, we see them trek the Utah canyons. That follows a “Farmer Wants a Wife” hour (meeting the families) that will rerun Friday.
5) ALSO: Drama reruns are on ABC (three “R.J. Decker” hours) and CBS (the three “NCIS” show)s. And if needed (check Sports), the seventh game of the best-of-seven hockey series between Montreal and Carolina will be 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
