1) “America’s Got Talent,” 8-10 p.m.,, NBC. Now comes a fresh twist. The show has already sent 28 acts to the live episodes (starting Aug. 18); twelve are musical, five are acrobatic, others range from dancers to dogs. But the judges (shown here) have picked 23 acts for “callbacks”; they’ll perform for individual judges, hoping for the final spots in the live shows.
2) “Password,” 10 p.m., NBC. Constance Wu has her turn going against Jimmy Fallon. She’s best-known for the “Fresh Off the Boat” series and the “Crazy Rich Asians” movie.
3) “Once Upon a Time in Space” finale, 9 p.m., PBS. Once bitter enemies, the U.S. and Russian space programs were nudged together by economics. Last week, we saw their hesitant link on the Mir space shuttle; now comes the immense challenge of the International Space Shuttle. This excellent hour fits well with PBS space reruns Wednesday and Friday.
4) “NCIS: Origins,” 9 p.m., CBS. The team learns that Gibbs, a widower, has eloped with Diane for a Las Vegas wedding; now those two ponder their future. That’s a rerun, as are “NCIS” at 8 (a man barricades in an ammunition warehouse) and “NCIS: Sydney” at 10 (a murder via drone).
5) Movies. Four days after Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man movie reached theaters, FX has the previous ones at 4 (2017) and 7 p.m. (2021). Also at 7, HBO has Kenneth Branagh’s 2017 remake of Agatha Christie’s great “Murder on the Orient Express.” Starring as Poirot, Branagh is unconvincing, but as the director he gives this a sweepingly cinematic feel.
