After pausing fora sports-stuffed June, ABC will start its summer line-up in July.
It will be a trimmed-down one, though, with no “Bachelorette.”
Instead, there will be two nights of game shows — including Martin Short hosting a “Match Game” revival — plus “Bachelor in Paradise” (shown here in a previous season). There will also be lots of room for reruns, plus Disney movies on Sundays.
Ever since 2006, “The Bachelorette” has been key to almost every TV summer. It was delayed until fall twice during Covid, but kept returning.
Then came complaints, alleging a toxic environment. Several producers left; ABC said the show hasn’t been canceled, but won’t be there this summer.
June is crowded with pro playoffs in both basketball and hockey. After that, ABC has:
— Mondays: “Bachelor in Paradise,” which has past contestants of all the shows — “Bachelor,” “Bachelorette” and now adding “Golden Bachelor” and “Golden Bahelorette” — in a sunny, swimwear setting. It’s 8-10 p.m., starting July 7.
–Thursdays: “Celebrity Family Feud,” hosted by Steve Harvey, and “Press Your Luck,” hosted by Elizabeth Banks. That’s 8 and 9 p.m., starting July 10.
— Wednesdays: “Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” with Jimmy Kimmel, at 8; and “Match Game,” with Short, at 9. That will wait until July 23, because the previous Wednesday has the “ESPYS” sports awards.
