Best-bets for June 18: comedies (really) and romance

1) “Shifting Gears,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. During a tough time for comedies, this has started well; two comedy pros work with fairly clever scripts. Now here are reruns of the first four episodes. 2) “Children Ruin Everything,” 9 and 9:30 p.m., CW. After a long pause, this Canadian comedy is back for the final eight episodes of its season. Meaghan Rath (“Hawaii Five-0”) plays someone who’s overbooked — especially since her husband has new stress at work and her boss (Bruce McCulloch of “The Kids in the Hall”) has a failing political campaign.

3) “The Buccaneers” season-opener, Apple TV+. Visually, this may be the finest series ever. The settings are splendid; the people are more so. But storywise, the second season teeters near soapy excess. Nan married the Duke (a good guy), to distract people while her sister fled with Guy (Nan’s true love). Now things get messier.

4) “Walking With Dinosaurs,” 8-10 p.m., PBS. The final night of a sharply crafted, three-night series starts with a pachyrhinosaurus trying its dangerous migration. That’s followed at 10 by a “Nova” rerun, as scientists make key discoveries about dinosaurs in the Arctic Circle.

5) MOVIES: At 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies has “High Noon” (1952), which is considered a true classic; at 5:45, it has “Godzilla vs. Hedorah” (1971), which isn’t. And on the same night that that the Disney Channel has “Teen Beach 2” (2015) at 8, FMC has the sort of films that parodies. “Beach Party” (1963) is 7:45 p.m., with “Muscle Beach Party” (1964) at 10.
