1) “A Minecraft Movie” (2025), 8 p.m., HBO. A doorknob salesman (Jack Black) ends up in an alternate world. Then a game-store guy (Jason Momoa, shown here, center) finds a portal. That may sound silly, but it has helped revive movie theaters. The opening week more than doubled predictions; now close to $1 billion worldwide, the comedy has just reached Max and adds HBO.
2) “Kids Choice Awards,” 8-9:30 p.m., Nickelodeon and CMT. At the same time that “A Minecraft Movie” airs on HBO, it’s up for “Favorite Movie” here. Black (who will appear at the awards) and Momoa are nominated for favorite movie actor. There will be slime, silliness and music by Katseye.
3) “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022), 7 p.m., Paramount Network; and “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning” (2023), 8 p.m., MGM+. Tom Cruise has been another force to revive movies. “Maverick” scored big; “Dead Reckoning” did fairly well, setting up the excellent “Final Reckoning,” now in theaters.
4) “Saturday Night Live,”11:29 p.m., NBC. After hosting three times during his “Mad Men” years, Jon Hamm had a 15-year gap. He did keep popping up for uncredited guest spots, but this rerun (from April 12) was his first return to hosting. Lizzo was the music guest.
5) ALSO: At 8 p.m., reruns include CBS’ “FBI International” (a bus full of American volunteers is hijacked) and three hours of ABC’s “$100,00 Pyramid,” plus NBC’s “Destination X”: Suddenly joining the group are JaNa Craig from “Love Island” and Peter Weber” from “The Bachelor.”
