Best-bets for May 8: Re-live a global adventure

1) “Life on Earth: Attenborough’s Greatest Adventure,” 8 p.m., PBS. Two days before David Attenborough turns 100, PBS notes his most ambitious project. “Life on Earth” (shown here) debuted in 1979, after three years and 1.5 million miles of travel to 30 countries, filming 600 animals. In this amiable hour, Attenborough and others fondly recall the adventure.

2) “MasterChef,” 8 p.m., Fox. The show has chosen three of its four teams, with Americans representing family food traditions from Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific. Now it’s time to choose five people for the Americas.

3) “America’s Culinary Cup,” 9:30 p.m., CBS. Here’s another food show, much further along: Next week is the finale; tonight, the final four complete for the three spots. That follows “Survivor,” which is two weeks from finding its 50th million-dollar winner.

4) “Chicago Med,” 8 p.m., NBC. Just as Goodwin and Charles prepare for an ominous board meeting, a bigger problem appears: A prison riot floods the hospital with patients. That’s followed by “Chicago Fire” (Sevaride opens a cold case from decades ago) and “Chicago P.D.” (Imani follows a new lead about her missing sister).

5) ALSO: At 8 p.m., Hallmark reruns “Kentucky Roses” (2026), a romance set on the grounds of the Kentucky Derby. At 10, a strong “Shared Planet” shows solutions around the world: In Africa, farmers find a way to co-exist with lions. In Mexico, millions of bats help revive the tequila industry. In South Africa, flowers help Cape Town beat the drought.
