1) “The Bear” series finale, 9-10:20 p.m., FX. The restaurant has just survived its roughest night — overbooked, undersupplied and belted by a fierce storm. Now life changes, especially for Carmy (Emmy-winner Jeremy Allen White, shown here in a previous episode). In a quietly compelling finale, he has an emotional scene with Syd and, later, a remarkable, five-minute monolog.
2) “Best Medicine,” 9 p.m., Fox. This lacks the dry wit of the show it’s based on (“Doc Martin,” which has reruns from 7 p.m. to midnight today on Ovation). Still, it’s a delight in its own, loud way. In this terrific rerun, Martin Clunes, producer and star of the original show, plays Dr. Best’s father.
3) More fun, via reruns. At 8 p.m., “The 1% Club” starts with a choir giving the show a theme song. At 9 and 10, it’s “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.” First, Georgie fumes about the attention Mandy gets, doing the weather on TV; then he’s unhappy that his widowed mom might start dating.
4) Football, 8 p.m. ET, NBC. The pros don’t start their official season until Sept. 9, but now the pre-season games begin. This one (Panthers-Cardinals) is the annual Hall of Fame Game, in Canton, Ohio. At noon ET Saturday on ESPN, the Hall will induct Drew Brees, Roger Craig, Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Kuechly and Adam Vinatieri.
5) “Stand By Me” (1986), 7:30 p.m., HBO. Rob Reiner’s gem leads a night of excellent movies. Others include: “The Martian” (2015), 6 p.m., FX; “The Help” (2011), 7 p.m., E; “Ray” (2004), 8 p.m., Oprah Winfrey Network; and “Pulp Fiction” (1994), 8 p.m., Showtime.
