1) “The Americas,” 8 and 9 p.m. Thursday, NBC. The first rerun (with “fun facts” added) visits the Caribbean (shown here), with 7,000 islands sprawling over a million square miles; the second tells how the series was filmed. Both are superb; both include two compelling glimpses: Whales sleep vertically, then plunge to hunt; red crabs march to the sea, across a lethal road.
2) “Lanterns” debut, 9 p.m. Sunday, HBO; also, 10 and 11:41. A comic-book hero since 1940, Green Lantern evolved into an intergalactic team. A Ryan Reynolds film failed in 2011, but here’s a new version, co-produced by James Gunn (whose excellent “Superman” is at 6:45). Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, with Aaron Pierre as his recruit, John Stewart.
3) “All American,” 8 p.m. today, CW. It’s a stark turn for this story about friends and rivals at opposite high schools. An ICE raid at Crenshaw leaves Amina, Preach and Khalil changed; at Beverly Hills, KJ and his football teammates try to help, soon facing consequences. And a press-conference moment threatens the friendship of the two coaches.
4) “American Ninja Warrior,” 8-10 p.m. today, NBC, rerunning at 8 p.m. Saturday. This show has finally wrapped its regionals — three of them, each lasting three weeks. The result sent 60 people to the finals, where they begin head-to-head races. This episode starts a busy NBC week; it’s followed by “The Wall,” with a kindergarten teacher and her sister.
5) “America’s Got Talent,” 8-10 p.m. Tuesday, NBC, rerunning Friday. As the callbacks began last week, Simon Cowell and Mel B each watched six acts. He sent five (three singing, one dancing, one comedy) to the live shows; she sent three (two singing, plus a mentalist duo). Now Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel have their turn; “Password” follows, with Wayne Brady.
6) “NCIS,” 10 p.m. Tuesday, CBS. This is one of the occasional weeks with two nights of “Survivor 50” reruns, instead of one. There’s the regular one (9:30-11 p.m. Wednesday), plus one from 8-10 p.m. Tuesday That ousts two “NCIS” spin-offs and nudges this rerun to 10: After a drone pilot is murdered, the probe leads back to a woman from McGee’s past.
7) “Nation’s Dumbest,” 9 p.m. Wednesday, Fox. Maybe this will be re-titled “Nation’s Second Dumbest.” In early rounds, Carmen Electra frequently failed; then she was late for one test, skipped another and was “expelled.” She said she was brave to even try the show, “not knowing so much stuff.” Jon Heder, who knows lots of stuff, won the round.
8) “The Front Page” (1974), 6:45 p.m. PT Friday, Turner Classic Movies. TCM’s star-of-the day has a great weekend. On Friday, it’s Jack Lemmon, including this fast, funny re-remake. Saturday is Natalie Wood, including the classic “West Side Story” (1961) musical at 5. Sunday is Cary Grant, with the Hitchock gem “North by Northwest” (1959) at 2:30.
9) “9-1-1,” 8-11 p.m. Saturday, ABC. The 10th season won’t start until Oct. 15, but we can re-see the first episodes of the ninth. That starts with dedicating the firehouse to Bobby Nash, who died after giving the only dose of a life-saving serum to his colleague. The next two hours see his widow on a dangerous space mission, amid a geostorm.
10) “Disney Princess” concert, 8 p.m. Sunday, ABC. Recorded on Thursday, this leads into the amiable “Princess Diaries” (8:30); it also streams Sunday on Disney+. More streaming: “Michael,” today, Starz; “Reacher” season-opener, Wednesday, Amazon Prime; “Camp Rock 3,” Thursday, Disney+; and the teen comedy “Don’t Say Good Luck,” Thursday, Netflix.
