1) “High Potential,” 8-11 p.m., ABC. Here are the first episodes of what became the season’s most-watched new show. Kaitlin Olson (shown here) plays a high-IQ single mom; working as a cleaning lady at a police station, she cracks a case. At 9 p.m., she probes the attempted murder of a tap dancer. At 10, she uses her cleaning knowledge to solve a hotel-room mystery.
2) “Good American Family” opener, 9-11 p.m., Freeform. A bizarre, true-life story has been a 16-part documentary on Investigation Discovery and this Hulu mini-series, which reruns through Friday on Freeform. Ellen Pompeo and Mark Duplass play the couple who insisted their adopted daughter (who has dwarfism) was an adult, pretending to be a child.
3) “The Departed” (2003), 3 and 9:30 p.m., E. In his brilliant career, Martin Scorsese has won only one Oscar; that’s for directing “Departed,” which also won for best-picture, script and editing. It’s a thick crime tale with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson. “Goodfellas” (1990), which drew Oscar nominations for best-picture and Scorsese, is at noon and 6:30.
4) More movies. It’s a strong night everywhere. At 5 and 8 p.m., FX has the “Black Panther” films. At 8, AMC has “American Sniper” (2014) and MGM+ has “Apollo 13” (1995). At 9, BBC America has “Stand By Me” (1986).
5) ALSO: “The 1% Club” — one of TV’s best game shows — has the week off. It’s scheduled for next Tuesday; tonight, however, Fox is inserting two hours of “The Snake.” That gives us time to catch “America’s Got Talent” (8-10 p.m., NBC) or reruns of the three NCIS shows (8-11 p.m., CBS).
