Best-bets for July 4: fiery Friday … and alternatives

1) “A Capitol Fourth,” 8 p.m., PBS, rerunning at 9:30. Leading into the Washington, D.C., fireworks (shown here), we get tributes (including the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military) and lots of music. That includes the Beach Boys, the Temptations and gospel great Yolanda Adams, plus Josh Turner, LoCash, Lauren Daigle, Abi Carter and the National Symphony. Read more…

1) “A Capitol Fourth,” 8 p.m., PBS, rerunning at 9:30. Leading into the Washington, D.C., fireworks (shown here), we get tributes (including the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military) and lots of music. That includes the Beach Boys, the Temptations and gospel great Yolanda Adams, plus Josh Turner, LoCash, Lauren Daigle, Abi Carter and the National Symphony.

2) More music and fireworks. NBC (8 p.m., rerunning highlights at 10) is in New York, with Lenny Kravitz, Trisha Yearwood, Eric Church, Keke Palmer, Ava Max and DeBose. CW (9-10 p.m.) is in Boston, with the Boston Pops and choruses, plus Leslie Odom Jr., LeAnn Rimes and Bell Biv Devoe.

3) News channels. Fox News will have patriotic features throughout the day. At night (8-11 p.m. ET), it’s in New York, Washington (for the fireworks) and Myrtle Beach, S.C., with music by the Dugger Band. CNN’s night (7 p.m. to 1 a.m. ET) spans the country, with music by Dierks Bentley, Lainey Wilson, Sting, Nelly, Counting Crows, Tone Loc and more.

4) Dramas. “The Pitt” — a medical drama with Noah Wylie — reruns its entire season. Originally on Max, it’s on HBO from 11:15 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. And at 9, CBS’ “Fire Country” reruns the hour with Bode and Audrey trapped in an out-of-control blaze. That’s surrounded by “NCIS: Sidney” at 8 (obsessive fans) and 10 (a victim drained of blood).

5) ALSO: The History Channel reruns “America the Story of Us,” from noon (the revolution) to midnight. Turner Classic Movies has July 4 musicals — “Yankee Doodle Dandy” (1942) at 8 p.m. ET and “1776” (1972) at 10:30. And AXS has concerts all day, including “Willie Nelson & Friends” at 8 p.m.
