1) “Grantchester” series finale, 9 p.m. PBS. For 11 seasons and three vicars, this series (shown here) has given us smart crime stories. The finale fumbles that a litttle; the search for the man who shot Geordie is so-so. It also overdoes a crisis-in-faith story … but then catches itself. In the final minutes, we’re remind that this is a terrific series, filled with beautifully layered people.
2) “Patience” season-finale, 8 p.m., PBS. After slumping a bit in this second season, the show bounces back with a big finish. It strains believability, but manages to plunge Patience Evans and her boss into a crisis. Ella Maisy Purvis is subtly perfect as Patience, an autistic young woman, previously burrowed in the police records room.
3) “Casablanca” (1942), noon ET, Turner Classic Movies. It’s a full day of Humphrey Bogart films, led by this one — No. 3 (behind “Citizen Kane” and “The Godfather”) on the American Film Institute’s all-time list. Gritty classics include “The Big Sleep” (1946) at 4 and “The Harder They Fall” (1956) and “Dead Reckoning” (1947) at 10 p.m. and midnight.
4) “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” 9 p.m., AMC. Last week’s season-opener set up huge changes. Now Maggie ponders what kind of world she wants for her son and their new friends. There’s some great dialogue here … alongside some steps that feel like merely extending a story arbitrarily.
5) “The Librarians: The Next Chapter,” 9 p.m., TNT. Dominic Monaghan is already a fantasy-fan favorite, via the “Lord of the Rings” films, plus “Lost,” “Flashforward” and more. Now he’s Merlin, the legendary wizard. The team woke him at the end of the first season; as the second begins, it hesitantly works with him during a boarding-school crisis.
