1) Stephen Colbert farewell, 11:35 p.m. Thursday, CBS. After floundering in late-night for decades, CBS scored big — 22 years of David Letterman and 11 of Colbert. The show often drew big ratings, always had smart comedy. Now it’s been canceled; CBS says that’s to save money, others say it was to appease Donald Trump. Either way, Letterman will be on the finale.
2) “National Memorial Day Concert,” 8 p.m. Sunday, PBS. Building toward the country’s 250th birthday on July 4, this recalls the soldiers who got us here; one segment (with Noah Wyle) goes back to 1776. Music is from country’s Alan Jackson, Mickey Guyton and Jamey Johnson, plus Blessing Offor, Laura Osnes and the National Symphony.
3) “America’s Got Talent” and “Password,” 8 and 10 p.m. Tuesday, NBC. The summer season is looming: Fox has already started “The 1% Club” and “MasterChef”; ABC and CBS will be busy in July. And before these two NBC shows open their season (June 2), “AGT” reruns its “Greatest Golden Buzzers” special; “Password” reruns an hour with Heidi Klum.
4) Rod Stewart and Nicole Scherzinger concerts, 8-10 p.m. Tuesday, CBS; 9-10:30 p.m. Friday, PBS. These stars from two generations are known for the musical questions “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” (Stewart, 81) and “Don’t Cha Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me?” (Scherzinger, 48). She closes the night with that, after a powerhouse surge of rock and Broadway.
5) Basketball playoffs. It’s time for the conference finals, one step away from the overall finals (June 3-19). Tentative plans (check Sports for details) have the Eastern Conference on ESPN Tuesday and Thursday, then on ABC Saturday, with the Western Conference on NBC Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. That’s at 8:30 p.m. ET, with pre-game shows at 8.
6) “American Masters,” 9 p.m. Tuesday, PBS. Profiling scholar/activist W.E.B. Du Bois. this adds a fresh touch: Three men — Common, Jeffrey Wright and Courtney Vance — recite his eloquent words on-camera. There’s a quiet beauty here, plus wrenching pain. And at 10 p.m. Wednesday, the finale of PBS’ “Shared Planet” starts poorly, then has strong moments.
7) “Survivor” finale, 8-11 p.m. Wednesday, CBS. This 50th edition has been supersized, with a $2 million prize (double the usual) and this live, three-hour finale. Fresh from finishing fourth in the previous edition, Rizo Velovic, 25, is again in the final five. He’s joined by Jonathan Young, 32; Tiffany Ervin, 34; Aubry Bracco, 39 and Joe Hunter, 45.
8) “Next Level Chef” finale, 8 p.m., Fox. The others — home chefs and social-media chefs — are gone now, leaving three professionals for the finale. Each must make a dish on each of the three levels; each gets 90 minutes, dividing it any way he or she wants. That’s followed by the end of the two-week quickie, “Fear Factor: 48 Hours of Fear.”
9) More finales. Others wrapped their seasons early, letting CBS dominate this week. Alongside “Survivor” and Colbert, it has finales of “FBI” and “CIA” at 8 and 9 p.m. today; comedies and “Elsbeth,” 8-11 p.m. Thursday; three dramas (“Sheriff Country,” “Fire Country,” “Boston Blue”), 8-11 p.m. Friday; and two more (“Marshals,” “Tracker”), 8 and 9 Sunday.
10) MORE: The streaming week starts today with “You’re Killing Me” on Acorn. (That has so-so mysteries, but great byplay with Brooke Shields and Amalia Williamson.) It ends Sunday with the high-stakes “Audacity” finale on AMC+; the show’s second-to last episode is 9 p.m. Sunday on AMC. Also: “The Boroughs” and “Ladies First,” Thursday and Friday on Netflix.
