Here’s a double dose of good news. Two of TV’s best shows are finally returning, less than a month apart.
It will be:
— “Poker Face,” May 8 on Peacock. It has three episodes that first day, then seven more on consecutive Thursdays.
— “Resident Alien,” at 11 p.m. — yes, 11 p.m. — Friday, June 6 on both Syfy and USA.
Both shows, mixing whimsy and drama, are from top forces:
“Poker Face” is from Rian Johnson, the “Knives Out” writer-producer. Natasha Lyonne plays a well-meaning drifter, with a flawless ability to tell when someone’s lying. I’ll post a review at the embargo time, 11:30 a.m. ET Friday (May 2).
And “Resident Alien” is from Steven Spielberg’s company. Alan Tudyk plays an alien from out-space, who is now in human form and forgetting his prime mission — to destroy all Earthlings.
