1) “Nautilus” opener, 9 p.m., AMC, rerunning at 11:23. This starts well — a richly crafted series, loosely based on Jules’ Verne’s fantasy classic. There’s a rogue captain (shown here), a clever damsel, an invincible enemy and a great ship. By the second hour, however, we see the show’s limits. We’re stuck in a big ship in a (really) big ocean, with endless crises ahead.
2) “Grantchester,” 9 p.m., PBS. After lots of short-lived romances, Alphy has a strong prospect — a brainy and attractive librarian. Alas, she’s the daughter of his stern boss … and their first date is interrupted by an odd case. It’s a fun episode that even has everyone doing some spirited role-playing.
3) “Patience,” 8 p.m., PBS. The opening two-parter introduced one of TV’s best characters. Patience Evans is young, autistic and hesitant about other people; burrowed into the police records section, she can’t resist helping with cases. From now on, there’s a new one each week; this is a good one, focusing on the schemes of fossil research.
4) “Tracker,” 9 p.m., CBS. We’re used to Colter tracking through the woods, but this rerun — an especially good one — is the opposite. In an upscale New York fashion store, a young wife steps into a changing room and vanishes. The explanation makes sense and spurs a strong adventure.
5) “The Gilded Age,” 9 p.m., HBO. In last week’s season-opener (rerunning at 8), George faced resistance to his plan for a cross-country train route. Now he’s the skeptic, as his daughter pushes her romance with the Duke. Also at 9: Showtime has “The Chi” (bad news for Ada, a new plan from Emmett) and ABC has the pleasant family film, “Homeward Bound” (1993).
